The dual pane file manager System Navigator offers all the functionality you would expect to get from an application of this sort: you can easily navigate your drives, access your files, and manage them efficiently. It comes with a few extras that wouldn’t cross your mind when thinking about file managers, like Facebook integration, for example.

The System Navigator installation file is little over 15MB in size. You can install the application on a PC powered by Windows XP, Server 2003, Server 2008, Vista, or Windows 7 that meets the following minimal system requirements: 500MHz Pentium processor, 64MB of RAM, 50MB of disk space. The recommended requirements are 2GHz or better Pentium processor, 128MB of RAM or better, and 50MB disk space. Modern PCs will have no problems meeting these requirements. During the installation process, besides asking you to pick the installation directory and choose if you want a desktop shortcut, the setup wizard will invite you to set System Navigator as the default explorer, archive explorer, and text editor.

The interface is typical of a dual pane file manager. On the left and right you have panes you can use to navigate your drives. In the middle you have a preview section that can be collapsed if you think it gets in the way. At the top there are buttons for all the drives and for various functions System Navigator can perform. In the upper left hand corner there’s a traditional File Menu, while at the bottom there’s the Command Prompt and a handy Search feature. System Navigator provides support for skins so you can change the way the file manager looks.

System Navigator has a lot of functionality to offer. As you would expect from a file manager, the application lets you easily navigate your drives and manage your data. You will have no problems searching for files, creating new files, viewing and editing existing files, and removing the files you no longer need.

There’s a lot more that System Navigator can do: mount and unmount ISO images, present detailed system, startup, and browser info, connect to a FTP server, burn data to a CD or DVD, securely delete files, edit text, convert images, lock files and folders, upload videos to YouTube, share images on Facebook or Flickr. You have 30 days at your disposal to use System Navigator for free and uncover all the functionality it has to offer. Once this trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

System Navigator is a properly good and powerful file manager that will surprise you with its ease of use and long list of features.

Pros

System Navigator has a good looking, user friendly, customizable interface. Provides all the functionality you would expect from a file manager and plenty of extras. It can lock files and folders and it can securely delete data.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days.
